(Guyana News Source) As the investigation into the brutal murder of attorney Richard Lane continues to deepen, the attorney’s friend and roommate, police officer Tony Surk, has emerged as the prime suspect in the case.
Sulker, a patient at the City Hospital, is under police guard after he allegedly ingested a poisonous substance today.
Surk, who lived at the prosecutor’s home, told investigators he found the prosecutor’s body with a stab wound to the neck in a car parked outside his home in Durban’s Frontier area.
Investigators began to doubt the officer and his version of events, particularly when he recounted that after seeing his friend hunched over the steering wheel in a locked car, he chose to call the young man’s mother from his Campbellville home and waited for her to arrive before breaking into the house.
He reportedly never contacted emergency services before calling the child’s mother. The lawyer was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead Wednesday evening.
