As stated by the Honourable Governor Lemanu PS Mauga, early this week, land in Tafuna was dedicated for the construction of a new three-storey building to house different groups of the Ministry of Education (ASDOE).
The Honorable Governor, who was the special speaker at the day’s programme, recalled the days when the site where the new building is located was used as a government building. He expressed happiness as his efforts will help serve the educational needs of the state.
Lemanu said such projects will continue to be a priority for the government. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to implement them as it is a gift to the people of the country, especially the children.
He said that since education was one of the pillars of the country, the new building would be a way to meet the educational needs of the people of the country.
Lemanu also mentioned that this new ASDOE building is the first of its kind in American Samoa. In addition to the EOB, the new building will also maintain the same height. There will be reserved parking spaces on the second floor.
To the American Samoa Christian Church minister from Osi, Rev. Sapini Te’o, who heard the call for the service that morning. He declared in Psalm 121, verse one: “I lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth.”
Rev. Te’o, before we accomplish any work, we must look up to the heavens to seek God’s help and blessing. Because if we seek His help first, any work we do will be blessed and guided by His Holy Spirit. He concluded his speech by saying, let us do all we can to praise the Lord and bless the people of American Samoa.
Department of Public Works (DPW) Secretary Faleosina Voigt congratulated ASDOE on taking the first step in the construction of the new building. He also said that the building will be constructed in accordance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines.
Paramount Construction has been selected to implement this major project.
