Prime Minister James Marape and Central Province Governor Rufina Peter recently attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the new James Marape Primary School in Goiralalilo Village, Central Province.
The new James Marape Primary School was built at a total cost of K1.7 million.
The National Government funded K1 million while the Goirala District Development Authority contributed K700,000 to the scheme.
The funds were used to build six classrooms, an administration building, two permanent staff quarters, and other houses are currently being constructed. The school is a recent initiative of Goilala MP William Samb.
Prime Minister Marape has praised the current Goirala MP, Kasmilo Ayah, for his contribution to education in his constituency.
“Knowledge is power and education is the key to success. This is a very auspicious moment for the people of Lilo, Tapini and Goirala. Although your government allocated only K1 million for this school construction project, you did not say that the money was not enough. You lived up to the expectations and built a great primary school here,” said Prime Minister Marape.
Further support came from Kairuku MP Peter Isoaimo who pledged K100,000, Moresby North West MP Lohia Boe Samuel who pledged K50,000 and Works and Highways Minister Solan Mirisim who pledged to provide uniforms for students and teachers.
