Santos Echavarria said the measure Will allow DNCD persons to improve their living conditions, facilitate better access to basic goods and services, Such as food, housing, education and health for them and their families.
Likewise, he noted that the salary increase is also a recognition of the risks and efforts involved in the fight against and persecution of drug trafficking, adding that President Abinader’s government fully values the dedication of the agents and seeks to strengthen their sense of belonging and commitment to the institution and society.
Lieutenant General Cabrera Ulloa explained that the biggest beneficiaries will be the lowest-ranking agents, who have a salary of 11,165.00 RD$ and who from now on will receive 29,025.07 RD$, which means a 159.96% increase in their salary .
He explained that in order for the wage adjustment to take effect, the government allocated 135,993,632.59 reais for the remainder of the period from October to December, which includes the payment of part of the Easter royalty to all those who benefit from the measure.
“The salary increase for DNCD civilian staff ranges between 51% and 160%, with salaries ranging from RD$29,000 to RD$46,769,” explained Vice Admiral Cabrera Ulloa.
It will be recalled that last May, on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the establishment of the DNCD, the President promised to significantly increase the number of anti-drug personnel.
The regulation is a recognition of the hard work of DNCD members, who have seized more than 30 million grams of different drugs from the streets in the past four years; during the same period under the previous government, only 3.2 million were seized.
The pay increase, announced Thursday at DNCD headquarters, will take effect in October.
