“Russia brought war to our land and should feel everything it did,” Zelensky said in his evening speech, without directly mentioning Ukraine’s attack on Russia’s Kursk region.
Russian officials said Ukrainian troops, tanks and armored vehicles invaded Russia’s southwestern Kursk region on Tuesday, prompting Moscow to send troops and aviation units to the border.
It was one of the worst incursions by pro-Kiev militants across the border, leading to criticism of Russia’s military leadership for failing to learn lessons from previous attacks.
However, Kiev has not officially acknowledged that the operation is taking place. Even senior officials who spoke on condition of anonymity declined to comment on the matter.
