Last week, we told you about James Lyson Cacho who was captured by the Gang Suppression Unit allegedly with guns and ammunition. He was detained for those crimes, but tonight, police suspect he was involved in a recent murder in Belize City.
Cacho was back in court today before Magistrate Ladonna John, where he was charged with murder, attempted murder, dangerous wounding and using deadly means to wound. Due to the nature of the offences, he was not allowed to plead guilty and was further detained at the Belize Central Jail until August 31.
Cacho is accused of murdering 24-year-old Michael Welch. Welch and his cousin, Kingsley Morrison, were shot to death at Morrison’s home on Perrywinkle Street on March 1. They were ambushed by two men. Welch died of his injuries half an hour later, while Morrison, who was also injured, survived.
Another man, 18-year-old Tarique Gillett, was charged with the same crime in the March shooting.
