The Afghanistan and Turkmenistan U-20 national football teams battled for fifth place at the Central Asian U-20 Football Championship in Jalalabad, Kyrgyzstan, on Thursday night.
In this game, the two teams tied 0-0 in regular time and overtime. Afghanistan won 9-8 in the penalty shootout and won the fifth place in the Central Asian Under-20 Football Championship.
The Central Asian Under-20 Championship will feature teams from Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, who will compete in two groups of three teams each.
Afghanistan is in Group A with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, ranking fifth out of the six teams.
Kyrgyzstan in Group A and Iran in Group B both advanced to the finals of this competition as group leaders, and they will compete for the championship title tomorrow, Friday.
It is worth mentioning that tomorrow, Friday, the Tajikistan team and the Uzbekistan team will also compete for the third place in this competition.
The tournament took place on September 15 in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan, with six teams participating, and will continue until tomorrow, Friday, September 22.
