As reported by the press service of the Tashkent Main Internal Affairs Directorate to Gazeta.uz, during a rapid operation carried out in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, it was discovered that online gambling games were being played in an apartment in the Yakkasaroy district of Tashkent.

It is noteworthy that according to the information received, an apartment in the area was inspected with the participation of impartial persons. It was learned that the house was rented under the leadership of foreigners and risk-based online gambling was carried out.

In the quick action, 37 laptops and routers, $1,400 in cash, 34 SIM cards, seven mobile phones and 12 plastic bank cards were taken as evidence.

The investigation found that $900,000 was exchanged in the casino within three months. Twelve foreigners and 18 Uzbek citizens were arrested as suspects.

“I know it’s forbidden in Uzbekistan, but I came here because they said we are our website, just doing work. “We were too young, we made mistakes, we didn’t think,” said one of them.

In view of this situation, a criminal case was filed under Section 278 of Part 1 of the Criminal Code (organizing and conducting gambling and other risk-based games). The accused has been remanded in custody.

Illegal organization or conduct of gambling and other risk-based games, including the establishment or maintenance of casinos for such games, may result in a prison sentence of up to seven years.

It is understood that since September 1, 2007, the organization and conduct of gambling and other risky games are prohibited in Uzbekistan.

According to the president’s decision, the organization of risk-based games and the conduct of gambling activities will be allowed from January 1, 2025. He said the aim is to prevent and combat gambling addiction and prevent capital outflow. Report No.
