Therefore, this year will be dedicated to the life and legacy of Queen Katarina, one of the most important figures in Bosnian history, with a focus on the organization of an international scientific conference that will be held in October this year.

The gathering entitled “The consequences of the disappearance of the Kingdom of Bosnia” will be held on October 24-25, in cooperation with the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Mostar and will be held at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Mostar.

Prominent scientists and university professors from the region have announced their participation in the conference, which organizers say will bring together 24 exhibitors from six countries who will showcase their research findings.

As added, the event will not focus solely on the life and role of Queen Katarina, but will also engage with the wider historical context and consequences of the decline of the Bosnian Kingdom, including demographic changes, migration movements, and the cultural and social transformations that followed.

The conference organizing committee was led by Anto Ivić, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and member of the Central Committee of the Napredac Chamber of Commerce, and Miroslav Landeka, Vice President of the Napredac Chamber of Commerce, as well as colleagues from the Napredac Chamber of Commerce and the Faculty of Philosophy in Mostar and the University of Split.

The project is one of HKD Napredak’s main efforts in promoting cultural and historical heritage and is part of the company’s wider activities through its more than 60 branches in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad.

“HKD Napredak organizes numerous events in the cultural field in more than 60 branches in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad, as well as in the activities of sports and cultural and artistic societies under its patronage. Napredak does not neglect professionalism and provides scientific support by providing scholarships to students and organizing such gatherings. Of course, the Institute of Croatian Culture and Traditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (HI BiH), which operates as a part of HKD Napredak, plays an important role in organizing this gathering,” Ivic said.

He added that they wanted to highlight not one individual but the overall consequences of major events that led to the disappearance of the Kingdom of Bosnia.

“The fact that Queen Katarina was involved in what is happening here is a perfectly logical connection and a good reason for this celebration. Therefore, one day in advance, on the Queen Katarina Kosacha Kotromanic Days from October 24 to 25 this year, 24 exhibitors from 6 countries who excel in their field of work will present scientific research results.”

The conference’s sponsor will be the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HAZU BiH), and Ivic noted that the event will provide an opportunity for new scientific research and to interpret history with new insights and analysis.

“I also noted that earlier scientific gatherings placed more emphasis on the circumstances of the collapse of the Bosnian Kingdom, including the immediate period before and after it, rather than its long-term consequences. Although this may seem familiar, it has not yet been treated in a sufficiently systematic and comprehensive way. Therefore, we will be very happy to hear the results of new scientific methodological studies,” Ivic concluded.
