The taekwondo competition of the Paris Olympics will kick off at the Grand Palais on August 7. But Abidjan.net has learned from consistent sources that three Ivorians, Cheick Cisse Salah, Marie-Christel Ruth Barbie and Astan Batily, will walk the carpet from August 9, 2024.

In order to get into competition shape, Cheick Cisse and Ruth Barbie visited the Athletes Village on Sunday, August 4. Previously, the two Taekwondo World Champions had been concentrated in Las Palmas, Spain.
Ruth Barbie has remained silent and away from social networks since the end of the last African Championships, which took place in Abidjan on November 5-6, 2023. The two-time Olympic bronze medalist (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020) wants to stay focused.
“I am focused on the Olympics. Now is the time for me to hang an Olympic gold medal around my neck. It is the only reward missing from my bucket list,” she told government daily Brother Morning News.

After winning two bronze medals, 30-year-old Ruth Gbagbi wants to go one step further. These Olympics seem to be an opportunity for the Ivorian.
Cheick Cisse maintained his usual stance. Enough confidence and high concentration. “The atmosphere in the village is good, but it is better to focus on the goal. We are fighting for the country, we are fighting to save our honor,” said the 2016 Rio Olympic champion.
At the age of 25, 2021 African Taekwondo champion Ashtan Batily is competing in her first Olympics. She is a very focused athlete and national team coach Thierry Koné is also working hard to win a medal in Paris.
