Here’s everything you need to know about today’s event Paris Olympic Games Thursday night into tomorrow morning.
New Zealand’s medal chances on Day 13
Sailing – Nacra 17 Medal Race, Micah Wilkinson, Erica Dawson, 10:15 p.m.
They are off again. After last night’s medal match was postponed, the Nacra duo of Dawson and Wilkinson had to wait for their chance to fight for a medal. They are fourth, tied on points with the third-placed team heading into tonight’s rescheduled medal match. If they finish ahead of the British duo, they will take bronze. Silver is also within reach, as they are just six points behind Argentina.
Sport Climbing – Speed - Men’s Final, Julian David, 10:55pm
The 19-year-old performed well in the first elimination round, but he will face a tough match in the quarter-finals against world record holder Sam Watson. The New Zealander is expected to give his all and cannot rule out another upset.
Canoe Sprint – Women’s K4 500m final, Dame Lisa Carrington, Olivia Brett, Alicia Hoskin, Tara Vaughan, 11:40 p.m.
New Zealand earned a place in the final with the second fastest time in the preliminaries behind Germany. If Carrington wins this medal, it will be her seventh medal at the Olympics and she will be competing for her sixth Olympic title, but she is the first champion in the K4 event.
Canoe Sprint – K4 500m Men’s Final, Max Brown, Grant Clancy, Kurtis Imrie, Hamish Legarth, 11:50 p.m.
The men’s K4 team is first through to the second semi-final. In the five-man semi-finals, the fastest four runners from each team will advance to the final, so they should take advantage of their chances.
Cycling – Track – Women’s Keirin Final, Ellesse Andrews, Rebecca Petch, 5:11am
Andrews, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, entered the tournament as a medal favorite, though the action could get messy in a tight race. She won her preliminaries to advance to the quarterfinals, while Page made it through the repechage rounds.
Cycling – Men’s Track Cycling, Aaron Gate, 5:27am
Gates is fourth in the UCI Olympic Omni-Around. The Commonwealth Games star earned his rainbow stripes in the individual points race, the core event of the Olympic Omni-Around, and won the World Cup event in Hong Kong in March.
