Had they had bad luck last year and lost their first two games when they could have easily won two, things would have been completely different this season.
The competition for the hockey championship is fierce, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a fifth different champion in five years.
I’m a bit fond of Cork this year, they’ve been frustrated in the semi-finals the last two years and that might just be the motivation they need to go in. But there are 5 or 6 teams that have a good chance of winning and just like last year the margin between success and failure could be slim.
I think the provincial format was a huge success overall last year and I look forward to seeing it succeed again this year, the illusion of early title contention in previous years is now completely gone and teams must give it their all or be eliminated early.
