A quarter ton of potatoes unfit for human consumption destroyed

Kuwait City, August 21: Inspectors from the General Directorate of Food and Nutrition in the Capital Governorate conducted a recent inspection and found 20 violations. Mohammed Al-Kandari, head of the Mubarakiya Center of the General Directorate of Food and Nutrition, said that the inspection found several problems in the Mubarakiya market.

The violations included food found to be unfit for human consumption, with noticeable changes in colour, shape and odour. Violations also included workers handling food without health certificates, employers hiring undocumented workers and failure to comply with general hygiene and personal cleanliness standards.

In addition, some food businesses were found to have not obtained the necessary health permits. Al-Kandari stressed that a quarter ton of potatoes deemed unfit for consumption had been destroyed. He reiterated that anyone found to be endangering consumer safety would be held accountable.
