On the eve of Ukraine’s Flag and Independence Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Volodymyr Zelenska presented the “National Legend” award to 11 prominent figures.
Film director, screenwriter, collage artist, People’s Artist of the USSR, USSR Sergei Parajanov also received awards. “We are proud to have such Ukrainians and such friends; we are very grateful and happy to live in a country that unites such respected and talented people,” Zelensky said.
The “Legend of the Ukrainian National Person” award was established in 2021, and since then the President has awarded it annually to persons who have contributed to the creation of an independent Ukraine and its defense, the development of the national economy, science, education, culture, art, sports, health care, and active involvement in charitable and public activities.
