Held on North Wildwood Beach at the intersection of 13th Street and JFK Boulevard, the event offers a unique experience for participants of all ages.
Your First Mud Run is the only mud run in the country designed specifically for parents and children to run together. The course is 1.5 to 2 miles long and includes 8 to 12 obstacles designed to be challenging and fun for adults and children alike.
Brad Vaccaro founded Your First Mud Run (YFMR) in 2011 with a mission to do more than just have fun and exercise. Inspired by the tragic death of his father before he retired, Vaccaro wanted YFMR to be both meaningful and memorable. He envisioned these events as a way to support the communities where they are held, and to date, YFMR has helped raise more than $50,000 for more than 100 local charities, including the Rotary Club of Fairlawn and the Garfield Veterans Association.
Since its inception, YFMR has hosted more than 20,000 participants in 50 events, with up to 10 races held each year in six Northeastern states. Vaccaro, a fitness industry professional who has competed in approximately 50 obstacle races, created YFMR to introduce others to the sport in a more approachable and family-friendly way.
“We’ve made a lot of people happy and even changed some lives by getting them into a new sport or getting back into shape,” Vaccaro said. “What makes me most proud is seeing how much fun everyone has.”
Whether you are an experienced runner or a complete beginner, this event is the perfect introduction to the world of mud running. It is perfect for beginners; anyone aged 5 and over can participate.
Billed as the nation’s largest “family-friendly” and “first-time” mud running event, “Your First Mud Run” offers families a chance to bond over a thrilling adventure while enjoying the beauty of North Wildwood Beach.
Additionally, they will host a second event this fall on October 6, 2024 at Fair Lawn.
