Chesed Wolfjager is a young ICT entrepreneur from Suriname who has created a startup network for entrepreneurs in the literary field.
“You might be thinking, why reinvent the wheel when writers’ networks already exist? I’m passionate about writing and spreading knowledge,” he told GFC News.
Wolfjager’s writing ambitions began in 2018, when he won his first writing competition.
“From that time on I wanted to write my own book, preferably a biography. At that time I was very fond of music and dreamed of forming a successful band. There would be several books about us that would be sold. I would also write biographies of other musicians and bands.”
In 2020, he passed the state exam with flying colors. “A staff member from the exam office said they would approach me to promote the exam in the future.” Today, he is writing a book detailing his success and the methods he used.
Wolfjager met someone in 2020 with whom he became friends and talked about business and writing. “In 2021, the idea of building a network really took off. In 2022, I dropped out of university and came up with the idea of starting an ICT revolution. My goal is to bring technological innovation and improve the level of ICT.”
For this technological innovation, he founded CIW Technologies, an ICT company that worked with Indian software companies to build applications.
“To raise the level, I want to build a platform where people can learn ICT for free. I also want to set up my own ICT interest group because I think the ICT industry can do more,” he said.
In 2022, Wolfjager began writing innovation plans and book manuscripts, some of which had been lost. “These notes have now been digitized and adapted.”
His entrepreneurial network was inspired by Mary Embree’s Author’s Toolkit and Sietse Kuipers’s weblog.
In 2023, he founded the network, which includes Surinamese people and people from all over the world. He also founded ChesedGamesOnline, which focuses on game development in Suriname.
“My goal is to introduce young writers to free tools to get more exposure for their writing, to give them free classes so they can learn to write better. It’s also good if they enter contests. And to provide an alternative to existing writers’ groups,” Wolfjager explains.
“We are a young generation and want to accommodate young people. We welcome novice writers, but we prefer those who have established themselves in the literary world.
For example, someone who writes for a magazine or has a blog. Anyone who can contribute to the success of a writer is welcome, such as web developers, graphic designers, marketers and script writers. Our goal is to build a website. ” says the IT entrepreneur.
