The legitimate government of Yemen announced yesterday that it has stepped up its preparedness to fight smallpox in view of the potential risk of its spread in the country. A statement issued by the Ministry of Health said that a wide-ranging health meeting was held under the chairmanship of Ali Walidi, Deputy Minister of Primary Health Care, to discuss the latest developments related to smallpox, following the emergence of smallpox cases in some African countries and the related concerns about the spread of the epidemic in Yemen.
