In an effort to make stamp collecting more popular among young and old, the Gozo Philatelic Association organized another themed exhibition at the Xewkija windmill.
Committee members Jesmond Borg, Anthony Grech and Mark Poulton provided personal collections of items relating to the Saint.
However, the exhibition contains more than just stamps. The exhibition dedicated to the visit of Saint John Paul II to Gozo in 1990 not only displays various objects produced at the time, but also newspapers that reported on this momentous event.
Some of the exhibits in the exhibition.Since its founding twenty-five years ago, the Society has collected a large number of cards and covers. As a result, it has no difficulty in presenting a cross-section of saints with a large following in Gozo. The statues of saints on display include those from Gainsilem, Garb, Keerjim, Nadur, St Lawrence, Sheukia, Rebughi and the Cathedral. Other statues include St Ursula and the Immaculate Conception from the Franciscan Monastery.
Stamp and folklore enthusiasts, as well as the general public, are cordially invited to visit the exhibition in August. Admission is free.
The Xewkija windmill was restored with funding from the European Union.[ad_2]
