A raging wildfire destroyed U.S. Representative Harriet Hagerman, The fire has burned more than 28,000 acres in eastern Wyoming since last week, according to officials.
Goshen County Emergency Management said Wednesday that the Haystack Mountain Fire was initially contained Monday but reignited a day later, burning areas north of the Haystack Mountains and Fort Laramie.
Hagman told Cowboy State Daily On Saturday, she declared the more than 100-year-old Haystacks home “very special” to her family, where she lived until she was seven years old.
“We all grew up there,” Hagerman told the outlet. “There were flames everywhere.”

Hagerman’s brother, Hugh Hagerman, told Cowboy State Daily that his family’s homestead no longer exists and that he and his Five brothers and sisters Grew up in a two bedroom house.

“It’s burned down. There’s nothing left,” he said. “It’s a bit sad. We’ve all been back here before. It was in terrible condition before the fire. No one has lived there since the early 1970s.”
