World’s first female tennis player wins French Open title for third consecutive year

Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek became the champion of the second “Grand Slam” tournament of the French Open season.

In the final, the 23-year-old Polish woman, who finished first in the tournament, defeated Italian player Jasmine Paolini, who is ranked 15th in the world, 6-2, 6-1.

Swiatek is the world number one player who won the French Open for the fourth time (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024). She has a total of 22 WTA titles.

In the 21st century, only Belgian player Justine Henin (2005-2007) won three consecutive French Open titles. In addition, the Polish woman became the second tennis player after Serena Williams (2013) to win the Madrid and Rome tournaments and the French Open in one season.

At this year’s French Open, the 28-year-old Paolini reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
