An accident at the Riesa pasta factory has left several people injured. The control center responsible for the rescue has asked us that, based on previous findings, toxic hydrogen cyanide was released during routine pest control. Six people were taken to hospital. It is not yet clear how serious their injuries are.
Fire and rescue services deployed more than 30 vehicles and two helicopters, including hazardous materials experts. The company itself could not initially be reached for comment. The operation that afternoon had been reported by several media outlets.
