Damascus (for you)) – Under the chairmanship of President Bashar al-Assad, the Ministry of Interior celebrated the Internal Security Forces Day in memory of the Parliamentary Police and Gendarmerie garrisons who were martyred on May 29, 1945 at the hands of French colonialism. Today marks its seventy-ninth anniversary.
Speaking at the celebration event held at the Ministry of Interior building, Interior Minister Major General Mohammad Rahmon conveyed President Bashar al-Assad’s greetings, love and appreciation to the members of the Internal Security Forces, on the occasion of which the Internal Security Forces have a place in the heart of every Syrian.
Major General Rahmon evaluated the heroic deeds of the Internal Security Forces, Parliamentary Police and Gendarmerie protectors who died while defending the Parliament from French colonialists, and expressed the sacrifices made by our people to defeat terrorism and its supporters. He pointed out that the only way out is martyrdom, which is nothing more than the confirmation of the victory of the righteous martyrs of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on behalf of the choice of the living people.
“The deeds of the heroes of the Parliamentary Guards proved to the whole world that nothing is more valuable than the motherland. Today we celebrate their beautiful and living memory, drawing from their lifelong struggle the determination and strength to serve the people. This national epic event will continue to serve as a beacon for emulation, a source of light and brightness that generations can benefit from, creating in the conscience of every Syrian citizen a strong will and an unyielding determination in the face of difficulties and hardships,” said Major General Rahmon.
At the celebrations, grandchildren of the May 29 martyrs, families of the martyrs of duty and the motherland, and many injured members of the internal security forces were remembered.
The celebration was attended by Justice Minister Hakim Ahmed Saeed, Information Minister Halak, State Minister Abdullah Abdullah, the Governors of Damascus and Damascus Rural, the Minister of Political Security and some members of the People’s Assembly.
