White House press secretary Andrew Bates said that US President Biden has no intention of resigning early after announcing his withdrawal from the campaign.
Bates said Biden plans to “complete his term” in the top government position and “deliver more historic results for the American people.” In a statement published by Politico, Bates emphasized that Biden has ensured a healthier U.S. economy and lower crime rates. He also pointed out that NATO has accepted new countries during Biden’s administration.
The U.S. presidential election will be held on November 5. The Democratic Party was initially expected to be represented by Biden, whose candidacy was expected to be approved at the national convention to be held in Chicago, Illinois from August 19 to 22. However, after Biden’s poor performance in the pre-election televised debate with Republican Donald Trump on June 27, calls from the Democratic Party and others for Biden to withdraw from the race have grown louder.
