This feature will allow users to review the content of voice messages through the written text attached to these messages displayed by the app.

The new feature, which is present in the latest beta version of the WhatsApp app for Android, allows users to select 5 languages they want their voice messages to be translated into. This feature will process all incoming and outgoing voice messages when activated. The end-to-end encryption feature maintains the privacy of the messages.

Due to the small number of supported languages, the new feature may be available in a limited number of countries initially. However, the company may add more languages later. This feature currently supports English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hindi.

It is worth noting that the feature will work on the device itself, depending on the speech-to-text conversion mechanism supported by the operating system, which means that the audio clips will not be uploaded to the company’s servers, nor will third parties be allowed to listen to voice messages or read written texts.

This feature is ideal for messages sent in languages that are difficult to understand when listening, or messages sent in different, unusual dialects, and it will also benefit users who cannot hear the messages for any reason or have hearing impairments.

The new feature can be tried out in the Beta version of WhatsApp and WhatsApp is expected to release the full update to all users soon after the Beta phase of the feature is over.
