U.S. Senator Gene Shahini said that the events in Georgia are affecting Georgia’s military relations and cooperation with the United States.

“As you know, after (Georgia’s) independence, we had very good military relations. We want to be clear that what is happening in Georgia now affects the military relations between the two countries. Indeed, this (our) legislative initiative is also reflected in the defense bill that was recently passed by the Armed Forces Committee,” Shahin told VOA.

For reference, Senator Gene Shahini has introduced a bipartisan bill in Congress, the Georgia for the People Act, which would impose permanent visa restrictions on Georgia officials and their families.
