We are in the golden age of online fraud. As the number of apps and services for storing and sending money has proliferated, so too have the scams that bad guys are planning to steal those funds. Every year, we hear more and more stories of financial misery. But what you don’t usually hear is back scam?
On today’s show, we follow a woman who was defrauded of more than $800,000 as she tries to get her money back. The journey takes her from the halls of the FBI to the fraud departments of some of the largest financial institutions in the United States. It also gives us a glimpse into how a system designed in theory to help victims of financial cybercrime works in practice.
