Country Star Rodney Atkins Last month, Atkins was arrested for allegedly trying to “smother” his wife with a pillow, then grabbing her by the face and throwing her out into the hallway. Atkins claims all the allegations are false and has filed for divorce from his wife, Tammy. Both agree that they can no longer safely live in the same house, but that’s the only thing they’ve agreed on. The fight for custody of their 10-year-old child will be a major issue in their divorce, and restraining orders have been issued on both sides.
