Sudden pain in the thigh or calf, sensitivity to touch, warmth in the leg, and changes in the skin color of the affected limb to red or purple are signs and symptoms that may indicate the development of a serious disease that can threaten the patient’s life – deep vein thrombosis. This occurs when a blood clot forms inside the deep veins, usually in the lower limbs. As a result, blood no longer circulates properly in the legs. If not treated, this disease can lead to life-threatening complications, such as pulmonary embolism. 50-year-old patient Mirela also faced the problem of deep vein thrombosis. A doctor by profession, the woman realized what was happening when she felt severe pain and her legs began to bruise. She was sent to the Focshani Hospital, where she was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis. On the recommendation of her doctor, Mirela came to the Sanador Clinical Hospital, where she was taken over by Dr. Rodica Niculescu, a junior cardiologist and head of the interventional cardiology department.
