Baku, Azerbaijan, May 22. The West Azerbaijani Community refuted the statement of Luxembourg House of Representatives Speaker Claude Wesseler seeking to accuse Azerbaijan of “ethnic cleansing” and “demanding the release” of those involved in war crimes, crimes against humanity and terrorism, trend
report, referencing statements from the community.

At the Armenian parliament session on May 22, Vesler issued a biased statement expressing sympathy for Armenians who voluntarily left Karabakh and urging Azerbaijan to submit a specific list of “missing” persons.

The community points out that Armenia is, in fact, pursuing a policy of ethnic cleansing. The country occupied Azerbaijani territory for 30 years between 1987 and 1991, forcing more than 300,000 Azerbaijanis from their homes. However, the fate of the more than 4,000 Azerbaijanis missing during the first Karabakh War remains unknown.

“All this shows that Claude Visele discriminates against Azerbaijan. In light of recent attempts to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including the demarcation of borders, such harmful and inappropriate interference by external forces is unacceptable. The organization hopes that Visele We can act fairly and allow more than 300,000 West Azerbaijanis to return to their homeland,” the statement emphasized.
