The outbuilding at the Wembley strata complex has been creatively converted into a 35-square-metre home with an asking price of “mid-$300,000”.

Hudsman Avenue is dotted with hexagonal apartment buildings, many of which have small laundry rooms and other small outbuildings in the same shape.

Repurposing these things is not unheard of: one shop on this street, for example, is the first location of Perth cafe The Pear’fect Pantry, at 49 Herdsman Parade.

But an enterprising individual owner or strata corporation about 500 metres away has gone a step further and converted what appears to be a hexagonal laundry (the type behind the Pear’fect Pantry) into a “studio”.

Into the 35-square-meter space, they added a patio about twice its size, a space that doubles as a bathroom and laundry room, and a kitchenette — with no cupboards but curtains covering the shelves.

The ad goes out of its way to mention the “soaring ceilings” and “easy-care” concrete floors.

The lucky buyer will still have to pay the $840 quarterly strata taxes, but they can enjoy the close proximity of Herdsman Lake.

The space opened last weekend and will open again this weekend.
