‘We’re going to impose sanctions on those who lead the Georgian people toward Russia,’ Rep. Bill Keating told VOA following a hearing of the House Foreign Relations Committee’s Europe Subcommittee.

Keating said the states remain committed to and supportive of the interests of the people of Georgia.

“We know all too well what the Georgian people are concerned about, and it’s clear that the current governing party is heading in a different direction. We will not deviate from the will of the Georgian people. But at this critical moment when the illegal war in Ukraine is causing so much damage, we will impose sanctions and take other measures against those who would lead the Georgian people in another direction, toward Russia,” said Congressman Keating.

We remind you that the House Foreign Relations Committee voted on the Amity Act introduced by Representative Joe Wilson on July 11 and supported it unanimously in the House. This legislative initiative aims to support and remedy Georgia’s pro-Western future and currently has 16 co-sponsors.
