this Interior Minister Carolina Tohá mentioned the dismissal of Isabel Amor, regional director of the National Women’s Service (SernamEG).
During his visit to the Atacama region, the Secretary of State consulted on the eventual reinstatement of Amor and stated: “It is an appointment made within a certain service branch” and “is the responsibility of that department”.
He added “We regret what happened” And stressed that “this is based on the institutions, definitions and responses responsible for service.”
Amor was dismissed two days after taking office. SernamEG said his departure was due to “continuous omissions of relevant information and actions”.
“Among them, the failure to report the difficulties in their relations with human rights organizations; the refusal to engage in dialogue with the Association of SernamEG officials at regional level as a natural part of the exercise of that position; and the unfortunate remarks they made in meetings with the service team working in the Los Rios region related to the conviction of his father.”
The group also noted that a note “relating to his responsibilities as a father” was issued that “was published but in a different version than the text received by the department.”
