Basic industrial enterprises always put safety first. You should feel safe at work. Taking drugs means you put your own life and health and that of your colleagues at risk. In addition to the risk of serious accidents, there are also safety risks in the form of crimes and the anxiety that this brings. Working under the influence of drugs can have other serious consequences besides accidents. Confidence in the company can be damaged. Unreasonable decisions and mistakes can lead to huge financial losses. In this industry, drugs are not tolerated anywhere, regardless of job duties.

Industrial Employers represents companies in basic industries. Our member companies are often large employers who are highly involved in the life of the communities in which they operate. In many cases, companies and communities are closely tied to one another. The presence of drugs and crime can have a negative impact not only on the attractiveness of the community itself, but also on the companies operating there. Drug use also limits the options for people in employment at a time when companies face huge challenges in terms of skills supply. Companies avoid employing drug users for good reason.

Drug abuse further negatively affects productivity and work quality. Typical consequences of drug abuse among employees are poor health and increased absences from work for short periods of time and due to sickness. Drug abuse can also cause anxiety and discomfort to colleagues and take up a lot of resources from managers and HR departments.

A recent Labour Court decision provides labour law support for a ruling that an employee who shows traces of previous drug use during testing can be presumed to be under the influence of drugs until a new drug test is negative. Industrial employer position: Drugs do not belong in the industry.

The holidays can lead to an increased risk of experimenting with drugs and developing addiction. This, in turn, means challenges for employers when the autumn arrives.

We want to share the same zero tolerance for drugs as our union counterparts. We need to work together to eliminate drugs from the workplace. Drugs do not belong in this industry.
