There are two sides to the world of economics. One side is where economists sit in cozy armchairs, in dusty libraries, high up in ivory towers. The other side is the messy world we all live in, where economics really comes into play.
Sometimes researchers write about things they themselves have never actually experienced. Sure, they have thought about it, theorized about it, and come up with clever analyses… but that is not the same as getting out of the armchair and into the real world.
