A €200,000 Bentley has set people talking after it was mysteriously destroyed in a posh urban area of Manilva, from where Gibraltar can be seen.
Police and firefighters were called to a car on fire outside a house at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac at 3am on Saturday, May 11.
The fire scorched the exterior of the home and then spread to nearby cars, including a Mercedes Benz.
A neighbor told Olive Press As flames threatened the Bentley’s home, the owner ran out into the street.
The National Guard said the cause of the fire was unclear but it was likely an “electrical issue.”
But another neighbor denied that possibility and told the newspaper that the car was apparently “burned.”
Neither the Spanish nor the Gibraltar authorities have initiated criminal proceedings.
But there are reports that Olive Press The Bentley belongs to a well-known import-export entrepreneur who lives in the city with the ex-wife of another prominent Gibraltar powerbroker.
However, the community president played down the situation, saying in a heated argument with Olive Press: “I know everyone on Costa Island wants this to be the case, but it’s not the case.”
