Axios, a US news website, revealed yesterday Saturday that “Washington is considering imposing sanctions on two Israeli extremist ministers, Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, due to the deteriorating security situation in the West Bank.”
The website cited three unnamed U.S. officials as saying that “imposing sanctions on Ben Gvir and Smotrich was among the possible measures discussed at a National Security Council meeting held at the White House last Wednesday on how to respond to the deteriorating security situation in the West Bank.”
“President Joe Biden’s administration is deeply frustrated by Israeli government policies aimed at expanding settlements and weakening the Palestinian Authority,” officials said.
