From the small to the big, war games are my favorite. This hobby has had a profound impact on my studies during my school years and even on my future growth and entrepreneurship.

When I was in middle school, war games were a type of desktop computer game that could be played by three or five people sitting together. Nowadays, electronic games offer more choices, and my students even choose to make their own games because they prefer problem-solving and simulation games. In fact, games teach us as much knowledge as books, and sometimes the relevant memories last longer.

When I was young, I loved history and studying human behavior patterns. I was particularly interested in why people behave and make different choices in war and peace. Therefore, the First and Second World Wars were one of my favorite research topics when I was young. “Map Reading” in the underground world is also a subject I like. I am even more interested in how cities appeared and how countries evolved in history.

After all, there are only a limited number of students who love reading. On the contrary, there are definitely many who are addicted to playing games. Another point is that games can “teach” more deeply than books. As a war game lover, I can easily tell the chronology of major events in World War I and World War II and remember hundreds of city names. My interest in history and human behavior has further expanded to subjects such as anthropology, philosophy, and human interaction, and I have gradually shaped my own values and outlook on life, which can be said to benefit from it for a lifetime.

To play war games well, you must first “do your homework”, understand the background and causes of the events and characters, the direction, what resources and technologies should be invested, and in addition to responding with force, you must also know when to start negotiations. Using scheming strategies well is the correct way to play the game. This is also the case in reality. Take the recent developments in the Russian-Ukrainian war as an example. Most people have limited knowledge of Kursk Oblast, but I am quite familiar with this city that often appears in war games. In this war between David and Goliath, Ukraine must adopt tactics different from the past, using technological weapons that have never been used by predecessors, and investing today’s intelligent and information technologies, such as drones, satellites, hackers and intelligence, in the war to win by surprise.

Over the years, playing games not only cultivated my habit of reading and collecting information quickly, but also made me accustomed to using “sandbox thinking” to deal with the unknown, especially when starting a business, I would first imagine different situations and then think about how to deal with them. The same strategy is also applied to project promotion or lobbying investors. I would constantly simulate in my mind in advance to prepare myself mentally for real challenges.

As the saying goes, “Opportunities favor those who are prepared,” this is especially true today.
