Members of the Energy of Suriname (EBS) Association took action again this morning at the Energy of Suriname on Saramaccastraat in Paramaribo.
They believe that despite discussions between chairman Chan Santokhi and the unions and management, no solution has been reached to the current labour situation.
The gate was closed and the employees wanted to get in. At one point, management called the police. In a short period of time, several units flooded the scene.
There was a lot of pushing and shoving between EBS staff and agents. The gates opened and the staff entered the site.
An EBS employee reportedly broke his hand while forcing the gate open. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
