Vice President Alupo to attend Masheruka Girls’ SS fundraiser

All roads will lead to Masheruka Girls Socialist School on Sunday, August 25, to raise funds for the construction of a science laboratory building estimated to cost Sh2 billion.

According to the chairman of the organizing committee, Ugandan Vice President Fred Mugabe, Jessica Alupo is expected to be the guest of honor.

The school is located at Masheruka Trading Centre in Sheema District, 16 km from Kabwohe – Buhweju Road.

The government-aided school was established in the early 1980s as a co-educational school but later became a girls’ school in 1999.

The school’s principal, Catherine Nuwagira Kangume, told Red Chili that 357 of the 900 students were on bursaries for various reasons.

The chairman of the organizing committee said the event will start at 09:00 am and before that, Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni of the West Korle Diocese will lead a thanksgiving prayer which will start at 09:00 am.

He called on all alumni to attend the event, welcome our Vice President, Her Excellency Jessica Alupo, and contribute to the construction of the Science Building.”

Dr. Medard Twenmacco, chairman of the school’s board of trustees, said the increase in enrollment requires more infrastructure, especially science-based infrastructure, to produce students who can withstand and respond to current global challenges.

Naome Kibaaju, MP for Sheema North, where the school is located, said at a preparatory meeting in Kampala on Wednesday that she would ensure that all donated funds were used properly – to construct and equip the science laboratory building.

Some of the prominent obstetricians and deans of the school include: Dr. Benson Tuhwezeine (Ministry of Health), Fred Mugabe (National Social Security Fund), Anne Muhairwe (Deputy Intergovernmental Secretary), Johnson Musinguzi (Red Chili), Doreen Nyanjura (Deputy Mayor of KCCA), Dr. Deus Kamunyu (Makere University), Robert Kagarura (Global Business), Wilfreds Katobe (Sheema Development Association) and Didas Natweta (Wenkole Parish).

Others include Elly Kamugisha (Export Promotion Council), Michael Ruhiigwa (Treasurer, MUBS), Patrick Musinguzi (Kashaari North), Sharon Bashisha (Uganda Microfinance Support Centre), Harriet Katushabe (Satellite Hotels), Bernard Atwiine (Office of the President), Alice Kembabazi (Ministry of Finance), Patience Atukunda (OG/OB Chairman) and Apollo Kateeba (Magnum Security Ltd), among others.
