PALE – The second folklore fair of veterans and entertainment enthusiasts, titled “Take me to Pale”, opened today in Pale, bringing together 13 cultural and artistic groups from Republika Srpska, Serbia, Montenegro and the Diaspora, whose members paraded through the streets and performed in the town square.
The organizer of the exhibition is the Cultural and Art Association/KUD/“Mladost” from Palay.
KUD member and senior leader Slavica Radović said citizens will have the opportunity to see different national costumes and dances.
She said that about 200 participants, including the Serbian Folk Club from Hanover, had prepared a rich and colorful program and stressed the importance of the folk fair.
Biljana Mandić, a member of the women’s singing group “Melizmi” from Kikinda, said they were happy to respond to the invitation of KUD “Mladost” from Paja to participate in a major event that fosters Serbian cultural heritage.
“Gatherings like these encourage us to become more devoted to the clothes worn by our ancestors. Our mission is to pass this tradition on to the younger generations and preserve it,” Mandicheva noted.
Jovan Vučinić from KUD “Ljubo Božanović” in Podgorica said that this was their first time attending the Veterans Folklore Show in Pale, but they are happy to participate in similar events and always learn something new through socializing, storytelling and songs.
Srna wrote that he said that the reason they wanted to present an authentic part of Montenegro was because their cultural and artistic society had existed for more than 50 years, giving birth to traditional original dances and songs without the support of music.
