The Vanuatu Parliament has invited members of the Olbiil Era Kelulau (OEK) to attend its upcoming meeting in Port Vila and coordinated by the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) Secretariat.

In a letter to Senate President Hawkens Bowles, Vanuatu Speaker Seoul Simon invited MPs to attend the meeting, which he said would help strengthen the region’s health workforce.

“The Forum brings parliamentarians together to exchange ideas, build political support, enhance capacity, promote collaboration and advance sustainable action for health,” Simeon said.

He added that members of parliament from across the region will also have the opportunity to share their experiences and discuss how their roles can be strengthened to help build a high-performing health workforce.

The meeting will be held from September 4 to 6.

WHO will provide technical and administrative assistance during the meeting. WHO will also provide travel expenses, accommodation and daily allowance (including travel time) during the meeting.

Vanuatu has also invited parliamentarians from other countries including Fiji, Solomon Islands and the Philippines.
