A dessert shop born in New York City has opened their second Garden State location in Jersey City, with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream opening in a prestigious downtown location.
Jersey Reported Last year, the brand was set to move into 347 Grove St. The company was originally founded in 2008 as a food truck in New York City by brothers Pete and Ben Van Leeuwen and Laura O’Neil with a mission to “make delicious ice cream that you can feel good about.”

Van Leeuwen’s flavors are unique, with menu options like peanut butter brownie honeycomb or buttermilk berry cornbread. The company even developed a flavor that pays homage to the “Glass Onion” movie – French ice cream.
Van Leeuwen is also known for its extensive range of vegan ice creams, which are made with coconut, cashew and oat ingredients, and flavours include churros and fudge or brown sugar chunks.
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in Jersey City is currently open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight, and on Friday and Saturday nights it will be open until 1 a.m. for late night snacks. The Grove Street location is the brand’s second store in New Jersey, following the one at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford.
