The American company Lockheed Martin has started production of American ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) missiles in Grand Prairie, Texas, for the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco (FAR).
The US Secretary of Defense announced in a press release issued on Tuesday, July 2, that the American arms giant began production of ATACMS semi-ballistic missiles at its plant in Texas. The report states that the US government has signed a contract worth about $227 million with Lockheed Martin to manufacture and supply these missiles to Morocco, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. “The expected date of completion of production is December 30, 2028,” it says.

The ATACMS semi-ballistic missile is a tactical surface-to-surface missile compatible with multiple rocket launchers or HIMARS rocket launchers. It can hit targets at a distance of 300 kilometers with an accuracy of 10 meters. ATACMS has several versions, including MGM-140A Block I, MGM-140B Block IA, MGM-164A Block II and MGM-168 Block IVA. The latest models offer better accuracy and greater range as well as different payloads, such as unitary warheads or submunitions.
