US presidential election: Joe Biden concedes defeat

Libreville, Sunday, July 21, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – There will not be a second face-to-face meeting between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the next US presidential election. Democratic candidate Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the electoral battle on Sunday, and for good reason.

The lines are moving in the United States. President Joe Biden finally conceded defeat and endorsed Kamala Harris as his candidate, for whom he expressed his support. He announced this in a press release published on the social network X and broadcast by the American media.

Some members of his camp recently increased calls for him to step down. Today, it was done. He will not seek re-election.

“Serving as President has been the greatest honor of my life. And, while my intention is to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and my country for me to step down and focus solely on performing my duties for the remainder of my term,” Joe Biden wrote.

The 81-year-old US President gave his place to another candidate for the election on November 5. For his part, he expressed his support for the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris.

If the candidacy of the first woman to run for the vice presidency in 2021 is confirmed, she will face another candidate. Michelle Obama, wife of former US President Barack Obama, is another potential candidate.
