Puerto Rico Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi announced Wednesday that up to $100,000 will be made available from an emergency fund to support municipalities that have been helping communities affected by Tropical Storm Ernesto.

The assistance is intended to mitigate damage to critical infrastructure and facilitate the restoration of basic services.

“We are committed to supporting our cities in their recovery following the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Ernesto. The allocation of funds from the Emergency Fund is a concrete step to assist in the restoration of essential services and ensure our communities recover as quickly as possible,” said the CEO.

The funds will be used to cover costs that have been or will be incurred due to the storm’s impacts on the electric system and the aqueduct and sewer system (AAA).

The Office of Management and Budget (OGP) will be responsible for receiving requests, ensuring evaluation and reimbursement of costs, with a total available amount of $100,000.

The Oversight Committee has reviewed and approved this allocation, provided that the request is processed through the Office of Management and Budget and is directly related to the impact of the meteorological phenomenon.
