The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has confirmed that yesterday, Sunday, Israeli occupying forces opened fire on a UN convoy heading towards Gaza City.
IAEA Commissioner-General Filippo Lazzarini posted on his account on social media platform /X/ that an IAEA vehicle was hit by five bullets while waiting in front of an Israeli military checkpoint in central Gaza.
He added: “This happened yesterday and the teams travelled in armoured vehicles with clear UN markings and wearing UN vests.”
Lazzarini continued: Israeli troops opened fire on a convoy heading towards Gaza City on Sunday.
UNRWA was established in 1949 by a decision of the United Nations General Assembly to provide assistance and protection to Palestine refugees in its five fields of operation: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
