Unilever, one of the world’s largest consumer products companies, will call the Hoboken waterfront its home when it moves its North American headquarters to Myer Square City in the coming months.

In one of the largest office leasing transactions in Northern New Jersey this year, Unilever signed a long-term lease for 111,000 square feet of office space at One Waterfront Corporate Center. The new office will be spread over three floors and will be located at 111 River Street. CBRE represented Unilever in the transaction.

SJP Project Solutions, a division of building owner SJP Properties, is responsible for project and construction management for the space. The company will provide a custom build-out tailored to Unilever’s needs and is scheduled to have the company relocate from its current Englewood Cliffs space by spring 2025.

“Unilever made a strategic decision to relocate its North American headquarters from Englewood Cliffs to the New Jersey Shore to gain a competitive advantage and tap into the vast labor pool in New York City and the surrounding metropolitan area while retaining existing talent and convenient access to Bergen County,” said Alexander Erdos, SJP’s senior vice president of leasing and development. “Ownership strength, the ability to execute competitive pricing, high-quality tenant build-outs, and best-in-class operations were significant factors in the company’s decision to relocate to 111 River Street.”

Erdos also noted that Hoboken’s accessibility and walkability were factors Unilever considered when leasing the space. The first floor of the Waterfront Corporate Center building where the company will move is also home to several retail businesses, including Gregory’s Coffee, The Lola Cocktail Lab + Eatery, Crunch Fitness, FedEx Office, Wicked Wolf Tavern, Chase Bank and Cresthill Academy.
