Farhan Aziz Haq, Assistant Representative of the UN Secretary-General, conveyed on Sunday afternoon the news that “the two leaders did not receive an invitation from the UN Secretary-General for a trilateral meeting until Sunday evening” on the Turkish Cypriot channel “KanalT”.
On Sunday evening, Mr Haq said “no invitation was extended to the leaders until 1900”, according to the Turkish Cypriot channel “KanalT”.
According to relevant publications on the t/k channel, KanalT contacted the United Nations and received clarification on the three-party issues.
Mr Haq clarified at the UN headquarters in New York that the two leaders had not received a formal invitation to attend the tripartite meeting.
