On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the Higher Council of Ulemas issued a fatwa authorizing Moroccan pilgrims to climb Mount Arafat directly on the 8th of the same month (Talwiya Day) on the 9th of Dou Al Hijja, without passing through Mina, a press release from the Ministry of Security and Islamic Affairs.
“In response to the fatwa requested by the Royal Committee in charge of the pilgrimage to the Higher Council of Ulemas regarding the Moroccan pilgrims climbing Mount Arafat directly on the 9th of Dou Al Hijja, without passing through Mina on the 8th, Dou Al Hijja (Talwiya Day), the Council issued a fatwa authorizing the pilgrims to go directly to Mount Arafat on the ninth day of Dou Al Hijja and confirming that it is possible to abandon passing through Mina to save time. Sources said that the pilgrims went through great hardships as they prepared for the most important ceremony of the Hajj, the Ascension of Arafat, which would be held the next day.
