The Group of Seven (G7) countries could complete the allocation of a $50 billion loan to Ukraine by October, secured by Russia’s frozen assets in the West.
Musavat.com reported that US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said this in an interview with Reuters.
He said that within the framework of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, the finance ministers of various countries held constructive talks on this issue: “We had a constructive discussion here. We look forward to continuing to work together to advance this initiative, and I believe that everything looks good and we will probably be able to do it before October.”
Notably, the Biden administration is attempting to offer Ukraine a broad aid package independent of the United States until the November presidential election.
